THE LEGAL SENSATION.
THE ABSCONDING OF W RAMWELL FROM BOLTON.
REPORT OF HIS DEATH.
hi connection with the recently-published statements relative to Mr W. Rigby's identity with Wm. Ramwell, an ex-solicitor of Bolton, England, it would appear from a paragraph culled from an English paper that a report had gained currency at Bolton that Ramwell was dead. The paragraph was to the following effect: —
" Reliable information: was received at Bolton, on Wednesday, of the death in a mine of William Ramwell, who some six or seven years' , ago, whilst holding high position in the legal profession in Bolfcon, absconded with the money of his clients. He fled to Spain, then landed in Australia, finally making his way to America, where, after a chequered career, he died working as a common miner."
A meeting of the members af the Auckland Law Society, to consider the case of Mr Rigby, was called for yesterday, but as a quorum did not attend, the meeting lapsed.
