Wellington, Monday. The annual session of the New Zealand Baptist Union was opened this morning. The Rev. P. H. Cornford (Napier), the President, was in the chair, and delegates from all parts of the colony attended. The following are the names of the representatives of the different districts :—Auckland : Pastor T. Spurgeon, Rev. J. D. Gilmore (Ponsonby), Messrs R. Fry and S. H. Matthews. Wellington : Pastor If. H. Driver, Messrs E. D. Butts, Kirk. Oxford Terrace (Christchurch) : Rev. C. Dallaston, Messrs T. E. Fraser and Olney. Lincoln : Rev. A. Dewdney. Duncdin: Rev. A. North, the Hon. T. Dick and Mr J. Langworth. Caversham : Mr Ings. Thames : Rev. W. R. Woolloy and Mr J. Renshaw. Wanganui :Mr G. Carson. Nelson : Rev. J. Sbandring and Mr Blick. Richmond (Nelson) :Mr VV. Hart. Ashbnrton :Mr J. W. Sawle. Timaru : Hey. C. C. Brown. Greendale : Rev. L. Shackleford. Invercargill: Rev. J. T. Hinton. It was reported that the total membership was 2,785, being an increase of 125 for the year. The number of Sunday-school scholars was 4,400, also an 'increase on the previous year. On the motion of the Rev. A. North, seconded by Pastor Driver, it was resolved, "That provision be made forthwith for assisting students for tho ministry and directing their studies." A committee will heappointed to prepare a scheme for carrying out the above resolution, and submit to tho assembly on the last day of the meeting. This evening there was a large public meeting, at which the usual Presidential address was delivered.
