THE MARTINS V. BARKER MATCH.
Martins Accepts for £100 a-sido
The supporters of Mr Martins have definitely accepted Mr Barker's challenge, and wish the match to be for £100 a-side, instead of £60, as originally proposed by Mr Barker. The sum of £10 has been deposited with the Draughts Editor of the " Weekly Herald," as stakeholder jrro tern., and if Mr Barker will forward articles and a similar deposit, the arrangements for the contest c&n soon be settled. It is not known how lonef the American champion may be engaged in his match with Mr Reid, or articles might have been drawn up; but, as only a fair and equal trial of skill is sought, no quibbling or frivolous objection will be taken to whatever arrangements Mr Barker may propose.
