Senior Matches.

Ponsonbt v. Auckland.—As was anticipated, this matcli, which was played at Potter's paddock, Epsom, on Saturday, resulted in an easy victory for Ponsonby, who won by the almost unprecedented scoro of -16 points to nil. The victors showed up woll in every department of the gamo if wo except Davy, who did not display any of his old pace, and picked up badly. Whitoside was in gieatform, and obtained six tries. Stephonson got five tries and Hewson ono. Arnoil kicked three goals from tries, and. Hewson one, while J. and A. Braund each kicked a goal from iicld. A. Braund'a kick was one of the prettiest wo have seen this season. With tho exception of Carter, O'Connor and Henderson, the Auckland team wero much below senior club form. Gordon V. Albert.-r-These clubs met at Potter's paddock on Saturday, and played a well-contested game, although tho Alberts did not do as well as was expected, Gordon winning by 14 points to four. Gordon had considerably tho best of tho game in tho first spell, Poland securing three tries, two of which were converted into goals. In the second spell, the Albert players pulled thomsolves together, and during tho last ten minutes of tho match kept the ball in Gordon territory, and Firth obtained two tries. Junior Football. United v. Gordon ll.— This was a well contested match, and resulted in favour of the former by. 2 points to nil. The United twice got across their opponents' line, but on each occasion were ordered back by the umpires. Poxsonby II v. Auckland 11. — This match waa played upon tho Metropolitan Ground. A largo number of spectators attended, and were rewarded by witnessing a reallyfirst-clatssgame. Ultimately Ponsonby won by 7 points to nil. Harris got the first try, and McConnell kicked tho goal, lloginie also got across tho lino. Richmond v. Native Hose ll.—The former won by 2 points to nil. Bkresford 11. v. Devonpokt 11. (Association Rules).—The former claim tho match, as the latter failed to muster a team. Black Rosk v. White Rosk.—ln this match the former were defeated by 0 points to nil. Three tries were obtained. Jervois 11. v. Imperial. —This match is claimed by the Jervois, as the Imps did not turn up. Eden a. Britomart.—Tho latter M-on by 5 points to nil. Clarence v. Orient.—This match rosulted in a draw. Grafton 11. v. Waitehata ll.—Grafton Avon by 2 points, a try being secured,,by A. Mathieson. Rangers v. Carlf.ton—This match was played at Dilworth's paddock, and after a very good game resulted in a victory by two goals to nil.. Tho forward play of Messrs Hill, Edwards, Charter and Mannui for the Carletons was all that could be desired, whilst F. Rotherharu, Smith, Spier and Mercer played well for the Rangers. The back play of Messrs Forsyth', Rowe, Whito and Wheatley for the Rangers was without fault, and Messrs Hudson and Robin worked well for tho Carleton. Gordon 111. v. Waverley.—This match was played at Onehunga. It resulted in a win for Gordon by four points to nil. For the Gordons Burton and Winks each obtained a try^ North Shore v. Thames.—This was a good game, but the local team proved too much for the visitors, and tho game finished in favour of the Thames by four points to two. Wanderers v. Ellerslie 11. — This match was played ab Ellerslie, and resulted in a tie, each team securing two goals. Tho Wanderers had all the best of the game, and kept their opponents on the defensive nearly all the time. Ab the end of the first spell the score stood — Wanderers, two goals; Ellerslle, one goal, and this was maintained till just before time, when, by a good rush on the part of Ellerslie, the ball was taken through, making the match a tie.

S.VRACEKS v. Elersue. —This match was played at Ellerdie on Saturday. Ellerslie won the toss, and Upfill kicked off for the visitors. Good play was shown by the Ellerslie backs, and the Saracens only scored once until half-time was called. In the second spell better play was exhibited by both teams. Upfill, by a bit of smart play, got the ball into the centre of the field and took it through the opposing left wing to near the goal line. A well-judged kick then carried it into the mouth of the goal, whore this Saracen forwards finished the work. In trie remainder of the game no further score was made by either side, and the visitors were thus left the winners.

Links y. Houxets. —This match was played at Remuera, and was veiy well contested, good- play being shown by both teams. At half-time no score had been made by either side, and it was not until two minutes before time was called that a brilliant rush'by the Links won the match by one goal to nil. Beresfoed \ r . DEVoKronT (Association Ernies).-—This match was played at North Shore, and after a very evenly contested game resulted in a draw, neither side scorin 6' Lctks 11. v. ll.—This match was won by the former by four goals to one, Davis, Hunt, and Jones being the scorers. Native Rose v: Imperial. — This match resulted in a win for the former by 4 points and 2 tries to nil. The tries were secured by Wilson.
