A competition which attracted considerable attention amongst the regimental authorities has taken place on the Ciesar'a Gamp ranges at Alder6hot,]nhen a s«ctioti composed of niuo non-commissioned officers of the 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade tiled against the Gardner gun^, worked, by a welltrained detachment under Lieut." tho Hon. A. C- E.; Somerset. The. distances were 800, 900, and 1,000 yards, .each Bide was allowed to fire as mauy rounds as possible within the (pace of one miauto at each distance. Tha re-iult was. an easy victory for the section of non-commissioned officers, who scored 38 hits at 800 yards, 34 at 900 yards, and 33 at 1000 yardp, against 88 hits oat of 19j roua li bo the (iai'dner gun at thu three range?, gronly a little over anc third of the score made by the nine men.- : '
