Women Physicians in Zanzibar.
Twit Princess of Oman and Zanzibar writes, begging women doctors to "come out to her country, as no male physician can be ■ admitted to Arab houses, though haphazard prescriptions are sent in. In moderato sickness, she says, decoctions of herbs aro much used, but when a pntient's case is serious the believing Moslem prefers to presort to " swallowing texts from-Iho Korea.'." A person noted for piety h> called to indite the text with* a solution of eaffron on a white plate: the writing is then covered with rose water and given to the invalid to drink. This medicine must be swallowed thrice a day, and care has to be taken'that not a single drop cf the sacred fluid is spilt upon the ground." The Princess engages herself to instruct European and American women in sufficient of the Arabic tongue to make them understood by their patients.7
