Death of a Chicago Girl from

Hydrophobia.

Cuicago, November 14. - Daisy Trich died this morning in horrible agony from hydro phobia, the ca?e being the moat eevere known in tbia city far a long time. Twenty seven days ago she was attacked and bitten in eighteen different places by a huge Newfoundland dog. The physicians who were called said the dog was not mad and no danger was apprehended. The woundg were dressed and the patient pronounced completely well ia a few days. Two days ago, however, startling symptoms began to be manifested, and yesterday morning she was attacked by hydrophobia in all its horrors. Sho went into one spasm after another, which continued all day and all nigh. While suffarinti intense thirst and pleading piteously for a drink, eho had an indepcrib able aversion to water, and screamed in tho utmost terror when it was brought near her, troinp; into fpasran if she saw it. During tho day she became more and more uncontrollable. Hor sufferings seemed beyond human enduvance, yet she retained consciousness. She was prasesfed by a strong desire to bite somebody, and when anyene went near her she would scream for them to go away. The attending physicians endeavoured to afford her relief by opiates and chloroform, but without, success Tho amount of ch!c reform given her would have killed ten ordinary persons, but it had no effect whatever on her, and she remained conscious, suffering horribly, until death came.
