Country Racing Clubs and the Totalisator.
The mooting of delegates of country racing clubs, to consider the position of the country clubs in regard to the restriction of tho totalisator to race meetings whore the added money was £30 and upwarls, took place at the British Hotel yesterday afternoon. Them were present: Mr J. M. Da'gaville(Chairman),actingonbohalfof the Dargaville and Mangawhare Clubs ; Mr J. Marshall, Henderson's Mill Turf Club ; Mr Campbell, Waipu Jockey Club ; Mr Hand, Helensville Turf Club ; MrKoulston, Pukekoho Racing Club ; Mr Pavitt, Te Aroha Racing Club ; Mr R. Wynyard, Takapuna Jockey Club; Mr J.Rowe.Onehunga Racing Club; andMrW. Lockhart.Otabuhu Racing Club. After the matter of the £30 limit had been discussed, the meeting agreed that a deputation consisting of Messrs Pavitt, Hand, Lockhart, Campbell, and Dargavillo should wait upon the Committee cf the Auckland Racing Club with instruc tions to seek the following concessions if the rule could not bo revoked :—(1) That the totalizator may be used for any race where £30 er over is given in added money ; (2) That the rule amended as above be made applicable only within a certain distance of Auckland, say 20 miles. Subsequently the deputation met the A.R.C. Committee, Mr J. M. Dargaville acting as spokesman, and urged that the rule be rescinded. Eventually the committee agreed to convene a meeting of the Hacing Club to consider the abolition of the rule.
