The scene from "The Rivals," by Messrs T. Day and W. Walker, and the "Area Bell," by Misses Luke and Bowdon, and Messrs Webster, Walker, and Whitmore, met with the warmest approval, and a select dance finished one of the most pleasing entertainments we havo had in the district. Tin proceeds amounted to about £10.
Great excitement was caused in Otahuhu yesterday (Sunday) by a report that the Circus would arrive about G p.m, A large number of settlers, and all the youngsteis of the town, assembled near the hotels, and awaited the arrival. Just at 630 the distant boom of the big drum could bo heard, and then one daring larrikin ventured at a prophecy like " Ji s ie " at Lucknow— " Ay, mon, but the Campbells ate cooming" We were not long in doubt for in a few minutes we could hoar the cornets, the trombone, the kettle-drum, and as for the big drum, it was beaten loud enough to wake the dead, but what was our indignation to rind out it was not the Circus, but the Salvation Army. — (Own Correspondent )
