Auckland Cricket Club.
Thr annual meeting of tho Auckland Cric ket Club was hold at the Albert Hotel W evening. There was a good attendances members, MA. Dewea presiding. ■ Report. - The hon. secretary (Mr A v Beale) read the annual report, from wS it appeared that during the postseason .£ club numbered GO active and 20 hon members, besides an abgentee list numi?' 5' ing 20. Osmond, £K^ would, tho Committee thought be eidered satisfactory, as besides' a criS?' balance shown, the material baloncinJ » the Club was worth at least £20. Than I last season had three elevens in the fi li and they competed for the three cups rV eented by tho Association. It was re»rettM that their efforts were not attended with « ceas, although the first eleven were s*™ j and tho third eleven third, fortheir reaoen?competitions. The first eleven played U cup matches, of which eight were won ami two lost, and tour extra matches winni three and losing one-a total of fourth matches, eleven wins and three loses all threo'being against the Gordon Co Tho reverses were no doubt attributable t tho ab=enco or negligence of some of th chosen, and it was suggested that future regular and enthusiastic pUwore should have the preference. For the first eleven cup matches Mr Barton carri off tho Club's prize for batting -with th splendid average of 69 for 14 innings threa times not out; most in an innings 195, jj has besides made scores of 171 (not'ouu 100, and 104 (not out), all in Cup matches Mr Barton has, during the last threa Reasons, averages of 59, GO, and 69, and wa think it Hill be a long time before hie per fomiance is excelled. Mr Dewe? 244 Mr Tomlin, 22 3; Mr Robineon 21-1. Mr O'Brien, 15; Mr Webster, 14; and Mr Howard, 10 7, are the other double figum averages. In bowling Mr A. M. Beale has secured his Club's prize, getting 66 vicketa for 112 each ; Mr E. C. Beale, 18 for 11-a----and Mr Kobinson, 17 for 12*9 each- but none of thepe were up to form during the season. The prize presented by Mr Osmond for moat catchea in the Club was won by Mr E. C, Beale. In outside matches several good batting averages averages were obtained, the principal being Mr Morley, 54 for two innings ; Mr Barton, 22 for U innings ; and Mr O'Brien 19 for 3 innings. In bowling, B. C. Beale has the capital analysis of 27 wickets at a cost of 3-22 each ;Mr Tomlin, 13 for 59 each ; and Mr A. M. Beale, 36 for 6,28 each. Tho second elevon played 10 cup matches, won 4, lo3t 5, and drew 1. The batting averago is headed by Mr Tomlin, with an average of 16 "1, but as he only batted in two innings, tho Club's medal was taken by Mr P. F. McPharson with an average of 12'G for S innings. In bowling, Mr Upfil carries off Mr A. M. Beale's medal with on analysis of 40 wickets for 6-32 each. The third eleven played 12 cup matches—woo 8 and lost 4. Mr H. S. Hall won Mr Carr'g medal for best batting average with 24 for G insings, and the Club medal for bowling was wen by Mr G. E. Cheeseman, who got 67 wickets for 4-35 each. Tho report concluded by making various useful suggestions for the future conduct of the Club and its members.
Balance sheet.—Tho balance-sheet read by Mr C. H. Osmond showed a credit balance of £5 9s lOd. Both reports were adopted.
Officers. — Tho following were elected officers for the ensuing season :— Patron, Mr J. M. Clark ; president, Mr Jas. Ruaeell; vice presidents, Messrs R. Browning, E. Hesketh, C. S. S. George, D. L. Murdoch, J. H. B. Coates, and R. Blair; secretary, Mr A. M. Beale; treasurer, Mr E. C, Beale ; assistant secretaries, Messrs F. C. Chee?eman and A. I. Carr; committee, Moasra Barton, Dewes, Gardner, O'Brien, Tomlin, and Webster; delegates to tie Association, Messrs W, E. Barton and A, M. Beale.
The trophies won during the season, at per secretary's report, were handed over, and the proceedings terminated with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
