Hamilton Abattoirs,
The Mayor's proposal to erect abattoirs at Hamilton on a site near the railway station has been meeting with somo opposition on the ground that it v.'ill provo injurious to the public health and a nuisance. The Mayor has communicated with Mr J. Banks, who states that no danger neod bo apprehended if proper precautions are takon, and instances tho caso of Liverpool, Chicago, and other lurge towns. He isgards Hamilton as the place in Waikato for slaughter yards. The intention of tho Mayor is to establish slaughter yards for tho supply of Auckland market, and the scheme is generally approved.
