DESTRUCTIVE FIRE.

Blenheim, this day. Fire broke out lasu night in ono of F. B. Pickoring and Co.'s stores containing sulphur, lime, flour, and miscellaneous goods. Tho cause is supposed to be the flood water coming in contact with lime. The Fire Brigade worked well under trying circumstances. Tho sleam ongitie had to be worked a long distance off, as the flooded streets near the stores would have extinguished tho furnace. Tho estimated loss is—stock £000 ; damage to building, £200. The insurances over all Pickering's stores are : — Buildings: £500, Equitablo ; £1,000, National. Stock : £3,500, National ; £100, Liverpool and Globe. These are reinsured an under :—Buildings : New Zealand, £1.000. Stock : New Zealand, £1,000; South British, £1,250; Union, £500. The building partially destroyed and gutted was the oldest wool store in Marlborough.
