Pedestrian Championship.

Defeat of Scott,

Launceston, August 29. The walking championship concluded on Saturday ovening, in presence of 1,500 spectators. Groat interest was manifested. Scott started in the morning stiff in one shoulder and knee, but improved, and in the evening, when tbo pavilion was swarmed by the crowded audience he spurted grandly. At noon the records stood : Ilarriman, 410 miles ; Scott, 107 miles 6 laps. At 11 p.m the match was conoluded- Harriman scoring 448 miles 10 laps, while Scott was exactly ono mile behind.
