Onehunga, Borough Election.

(To tho Editor.)

Sik, — Will you kindly find space for tho the following:— In tho "Manukau Gazotte " of the 28th inst , tho editor of that papor states that tho last election was carried out improperly, and that nine out of ten psrsons who aro capable of interpreting the meaning of an Act of Parliament will admit that tbe spirit of tho Act waa not complied with. In reply to this I wish to state that his reasons for this statement are that he tendered his advice to the Returning Officer on the subject, who, despite the very superior knowledge of the said editor, carried out the election according to tho Local Elections Act, and tbe instructions received from tho Town Clerk. In conclusion,! would advise him(tbe editor) to makebimself betteracquainted with the Acts and thoir moanings before makingsuch statements, as they tend to lead unthinking people astray, which, I believe, has been the case in the present instance.—Yours obliged,

W. 11, STEBUISIiS,
