Melbourne, August 20. A large amount of work is boing provided for the unemployed. Tenders are invited for raisUg blocks of land nt South Me!, bourne. Circulars havo beon sent to all the municipalities and railway contractors, asking what labour they con ab.otb, and requesting employers of labour to advertise what number of bands they require. Tho Railway Commissioners are calling for tendors for works oarlior than ujual. Small contracts will bo let. A number of gentlemen havo contributed to a fund for tho purpose of relieving cases of distress.
