The City West Petitions.

(To tho Editor,) Sib, — Two petitions ara now traversing town, one asking Mr Dargavillo to resign his seat in Parliament, and tho other, in a very boastful tone, requesting him not to do so. It is in reference to the latter that I wish to point out the illegal muni nor by which signatures are obtained, viz, going from shop to Bhop, requesting people to sign, not asking whother they are electors of City West or not. This seems to me a very unfair and misleading principle both to Mr Dargavillo and others, because I argue that none but bona fide elector? of any district havo tho right to request a representative to resign or otherwise. But alaa I unfortunately the cry of the day seems to be, '* Any means to an end."—Yours, etc., J.C.
