ACCIDENTS AT OHINEMURI.
(by telegraph—own correspondent).
Paeroa, this day. A miner named Wilson, when out pigeonshooting at Rotokohu on Thursday, fell over a cliff and broke four of his ribs. He was found some hours. after the mishap by a settler named Barrett, who was attracted to the scene of the accident by hearing the unfortunate man's groans, and who assisted him to his whare a. Karangahake, where he now lies in a precarious condition. Yesterday, a young man named Turner, who was employed at the erection of the new quartz-crushing plant at Karangahake, met with an accident which is likely to be attended with serious consequences. It appears that he was assisting to jack a log into position on a steep incline, when the jack loet control of the log, which in its descent struck Turner, knocked him down, and rolled completely over him. Prompt assistance was rendered by Mr Mcßailly and his men, who were obliged to cut a new road in order to convey the sufferer, who was unconscious, up to the county track, which, owing to the abrupt nature of the country, was a most difficult undertaking. Dr. Cooper, of Te Aroha, is now in attendance upon Turner, who has recovered consciousness, but is suffering from severe contusions on the head, face, and chest, and the loss of blood from several wounds has been pretty considerable.
