T*« Papakura annual race meeting Jo&X, place on Saturday last, and a roo^suitable day could not have been selected. Heavy rain fell at intervals, and together with a cold wind and sloppy course, ifcmade things very unpleasant. About 500 spectators werepresent, thegreatmajority of whom came from Auckland by special train. Mr E. Mitchelßon, M.H.R., officiated as judge, Mr J. O. Evett as handicapper, Mr W. J. Marka as clerk of the scales, and Mr J. Chadwick as clerk of the course. Results are appended : — Huedlb Raoe of oflsovs. Two miles. Mr W. Proffitfa erg Macaroni, by Gladiator, aged, lOst 101b (Warren) 1 Mr W. Robertson's blk g Rowdy, aged, Mr SE. D. Halstead's b g Minuet, aged, 9st 101b (D. Munn) ... •- ■•• 6 Also ran : — Auctioneer, 9st (Hickey). Macaroni won easily by half-a-dozen lengths. Auctioneer fell. Totalisator dividend, £1 os (10s tickets). ■ .. The Maiden Plate of 25sovs, H mile, was won easily by Mr J. Barr-Browns Larrikin, ridden by Fergus, Manaia being serond, and Contractor third.

Wright's b m Friendship, Gyrs, 7st 81b (Hodaon) A Also ran: Wapiti, 7st 101b (Dent), Cloge, 7st 61b (Byers), Rewi, 7stolb (A, Williams), Armourer, 7st 21b (Woods), Victory, 7st (Pearson), Libeller, 7st (Kidd), and Highland Mary, 6st (Brimmer). Dressmaker and Rewi made the running for tho first half-mile, Victory lying third, and Torpedo fourth. At the back of the course, Rewi and Victory dropped back, wbile Friendship improved her position, but nearing the turn for home Torpedo and Dressmaker singled themselves out, and an exciting struggle up the straight resulted in Torpedo forging ahead in the last few strides and winning by half-a-length ; Friendship being three or four lengths away, third. Time, 3min. Totalisator dividend (£1 tickets), £3 13s.
The Selling Race, of 30sovs, 1 mile, fell to Mr E. Kelly's Octopus, by Izaak Walton, ridden by Morrigan. Orphan waa second, and Larrikin third, the other etarters being Comet, Tinman, and Wild Irishman. Totalisator dividend (10* tickets), £6 Bs.

This was a magnificent race Approaching the home turn and entering the straight, Torpedo had a two lengths lead, and it appeared a bit of odda on him, but Armourer, Victory, and Clogs came with a wet sail, and half a-dozen yards from the winning-post the whole four were abre»Bt. A couple of strides further on, howevar, Victory and Armourer managed to slightly forge ahead, the judge declaring it a deadheat between Victory and Armourer. The pair subsequently ran it off, when Victory won by a length. The Novel Race of 20sovs. was won by Messrs K. and R Duder's Derby, defeating Tinman, Otara, an 1 Soukar. Hodson rode the winner.
