Anticipations of Monday's Racing.

[By Hippona.]

Gbantbd fine weather, the Autumn Meeting of the Auckland Racing Club, which commences on Monday next, promises to excel all previous years. The programme to be decided comprises>ix events, and excepting the St. Leger, it is certain that large fields will go to tbe post in each. Thl last few days of fine weather has put the course in excellent order, while tne ! pretty surroundings are looking at their very best. Additional eclat will be lent to the proceedings by the presence ot His Excellency the Governor, who has intimated that Lady and Miss Jervois will also grace the proceedings with their presence. The first race is set down for decision at one o'clock, and the usual special trains will run to the course at short intervals. My notes and anticipations of the probable results are as follow :— Tradesmen's Handicap, 1 mile and 210 yarde. st lb Bt lb Mitrailleuso ..9 1 Victory .. •■ 7 7 Cinderella .. 810 Rewi .- -\ % Friendship .. 810 Cat.. .. .. 7 A Victoria .. ..8 7 Nemesis ~ •• J » Myetory .. .. 8 5 Kalo .. ■■ » Libeller .. ..8 2 Castashore .. o v Wapiti .. ..7 12 The Kelly stable have a very strong hand in this race, and whatever they eupport should win. As a guess somewhat in the dark, I will declare for Libeller. Mares' Produce Stakes, 6 furlongs (for two-year-olde). _. stlb Catesby, by Musket—Prunella .- 810 Howitzer, by Mueket-Titanla .. -• » ]<f Brigadier, by Musket-Pangawerewere 8 w Rep oach by Fitzhercu.es—Slander ~ on Ricochet, by Musket—Erycina .. •• 8 8 Tamora. by Musket- Moonlight .. .. 8 8 Lady Norah. by Cadogan—Steppe.. 8 8 Taking the morning work as a guide, and the form she showed at the A.B.C. Spring Meeting, Reproach should be the hardest to beat in this race, and to her I shall award my vote. Tbe Faster Handicap, li mile. "Oddle Probable against Horse. Wgt. Rider Winning St. lb. sto 1 Necklaca.. ..96 — 10 to 1 Turquoise ..87 — 3to 1 Tetford .. .. 8 3G. Williams IU to 1 Derringer .. 712 A. Bj-ers sto 1 Cinderella .. 710 W. Williams , 10 to 1 Torpedo .. ..70- Stone : Btol Clogs .. ..6 10 A. Woods 12 to 1 Snider ..60 — \ This is the big race of the afternoon, arod , I shall expect to see nine out of the number f face the flag. When the weights first made their appearance I selected Cinderella, Victoria, and Necklace to produce the winner. The last-named I will now discard, as I think she is not sufficiently her--1 self to carry Buch an impost over the ' distance.and in her place will have Mystery on my side, whom I may mention has been putting in some excellent work this week. , To either Mystery, Cinderella, or Victoria, j I think the race will go, and to select one of the trio will plump for Cinderella. i Hurdle Race, two miles. j st lb st lb i Macaroni.. .. 11 7 Belle ..9 12 . Miss Griffiths _10 6 Mangaohane .. 910 1 Minuet .. .. 10 0 Miss Agnes .. 910 QuyFawkesi .. 912 Auctioneer ..9 0 This race will doubtless provide a firstclass contest, those engaged being well ! brought together. If everything is true 3 that I hear concerning Miss Agnes, she J must be very near winning, but fprefer to s trust recent public form, and will expect t to see Guy Fawkes the first to catch the judges eye. The best outsider I take to be Auctioneer. r Selling Race, 1 mile. St. lb. Orphan .. ..8 2 Armourer ..10 5 Paitashore ..7 3 Rewl .. ..9 2 Yuba Bill.. ..7 2 Aimee .. ..8 8 Kalo .. .. 7 C Larrikin .. ..8 2 Rosewood- .. 7 C Octopus .. ..8 2 Capella .. ..6 7 Blarney .. ..8 2 r Tho two most worthy of support in this race I ta__e to be Blarney and Octopus, and to j divide the pair, will vote for the last-named. 3 Both horses are sons of Izaak Walton. Great Northern St. Leger, 1 mile 6 furlongs, 132 yards. st lb Derrinsrer, by Musket—Rosalie .. 8 1( Waitiri, by Musket—Uira 8 8 3 This, the concluding race of the day, I 5 think will go to Waitiri.
