MR GRATTAN RIGGS.
Ok this celebrated delineator of Irish character who makes his appearance at tho Opera House on Monday night (supported by a strong dramatic company), a .Sydney panel- speaks as follows :—" Genius is potent to elicit sympathy of either sorrow or grief, sadness or mirth. Possessed of it, the actor has a talisman with which lie can touch all natures, and soeui-o their favour and regard. That Grattan Itigge, who is now at the Thcatro Royal, possesses this divine gift few who have witnessed him. will deny. Wo will not go so far as to say it is of a pronounced character, or that it is regulated by the best taste, but that by its exercite ho evokes tho sympathy of tho majority of those for whose pleasure and entertainment he performs few will deny. He has tho power of putting himself thoroughly en rapport with his audiences, because Tie can creato a living acting person, realising in an eminent degree tho lnilividual born of tho playwright's fancy. Lost night ho played tho part of Con in tho sentimental play of the " Shaughraun." and gave a vividness and individuality to the character equal to that which its author mußt have conceived. The ranting:, roaring-, rollicking Irishman, a true typo of tho common people, was presented with strikiog truthfulness."
