Acclimatisation Society.

The annual general meeting of tho mem-, bers of the above Society was held on the 10th March, in the Museum Buildings. There was a fair attendance. The Vicepresident, Mi Hughes, occupied the chair. The annual roport was read. It showod the total revenue of the year, excluding bank balances and refunds, to bo £349 13s 6d, showing a decrease on the previous year, which was £493 2s 9d, the falling-off being entirely under the head of game licenses, which bad decreased from £445 to £298 10s. In consequence the expenditure had been reduced to £422 16s Gd, a credit balance boing left of £192 5s Id, of which £100 was fixed deposit in the Bank of New Zealand. During tbe past year no change had been made in the management of the gardens, which were now in the hands of the City Council. The Committee were pleased to be able to state that brown trout were now well established in the Henderson stream and VVaitateroi river, and those streams might soon be opened for a limited amount of fishing. Tho trout had also b?.en seen in s'reams at Tuukau, Rapapohu, and Raglan, so that their ultimate establishment Is only the question of a Jew years. They were sorry to state that the fish were being illegally caught in some of the streams, It might not be generally known that a penalty of £100 might be inflicted for that offence. Trout had been distributed as follows: — Messrs Allan and Steadman, Thames, 3,000; Hamilton Domain Board, 2,000; Colonel Smith, Kawhia, 1,000 ; Mr Wallis, Raglan, 1,000 ; Mr Collins, Tuakau, 1,000; Major Seannell, Taupo, 1,000 ; Mr Lewisson, Walpu, 1,000 ; Mr R. R. Hunt, Mangatangi, 600; and Mr Applely, Mangatawhiri, 500. The balance of 8,000 were reserved for hatching in the Domain and at Watahere. —Mr R C.Barstow was re-elected President of the institution, and Mr Bull Vice-Presi-dent. Messrs J, Burt, S. E. Hughes, W. Earl, T. B. Hill, R. Hobbs, Major Jackson, Captain Whitney, T. Morrin, J. A. Pond, J. Russell, J. Webster, Hon. James Williamson, H. M. Brewer, J. H. Connell, and W. Thome were elected as a Council for the ensuing year. Measra J, Waymouth and T. L. White were elected auditors for the ensuing year.
