Forty thousand bales arrived up to today for tho next series of colonial wool auctions, which commence on January IJ. Tho probable quantity to bo offered is 200,000 bales, including 21,000 held over from last sale.

Sugar Production In Oueensland. A cargo of Drysdales1 Sugar from Queens, land has averaged £16 per ton. The beat of it brought £18.

Another Largo Firo at Adelaide.
Adelaide, December 19.—A most disastrous tiro broko out yesterday at tho warehouses of Messrs Crooke and Brooker, Fort Adelaide, the wholo of which was completely destroyed. Some other adjoining warehouses had a narrow escape. Messrs Crooke and Brooker estimate the damage at £36,000 to £40,000. The loss is covered by an insurance to tho amount of £25,000, in which all the principal companies are interostod. Tho Australian Fodoral Council. Melbourne, this day —The Hon. Jas. Service, Premier, and the Hon. Graham Berry, Colonial Secretary, will represent the colony of Victoria at the forthcoming Federal Council at Hobarfc. The Hon. G. F. Korferd Will accompany them as legal adviser.
