THE ALLEGED GOVERNMENT JOB.
(UY TELEGRAPH— OWN COKHKSrOKIIKNT )
Wellington, this day. The " Post " of Saturday night contained a lengthy article animadverting in the strongest terms on a gross ministerial job perpetrated recently in tho appointment of W. P. Reeves, solicitor, and son of Hon. Mr heoves, proprietor of the "Lyttelton Times" to tho Civil Sorvico at a salary of £300 a year. The "Times'1 this morning follows in similar strain, condemning the appointment. Probably this sort of patronage is exercised by all Ministers, but the amusing part of the all'air is that no appointment has boen conferred on the gentleman namo, who, at this moment, is probably writing paragraphs in the oilice of the Lyttelton "Times." Tho young gentleman appointed is W, D, Reeves, the nephew of Hon. W. Reeves. He is said to have had agricultural experience, and to understand agricultural chemistry, and his duty is to be the organising of an agricultural branch of the Lands ropartmont, Mr Ballanco is the Minister responsible for the appointmont.
