This day. Caledonian Low Level.—ln consequence of tho proposal to wind up tho Company, tho manager has suspended prospecting operations, and started to withdraw moveablos from tho workings at the 640 ft level.
Thames Golden Crown.—lt is now clear that tho shaft reef does not correspond with tho Cambria lode as was supposed, and tho manager is now preparing to start oporationß on tho Red Queeu cross-reef, which is more likely to be the body looked for.
Moanataiari Extended.—A short crosscut is boiug driven in order to accommodate a Mow of wator, when continuing tho shaft and sinking operations will be resumed in about a fortnight.
MoANATAHiu. — Williams, tributer, obtained 47Jozs gold from 901bs picked stone. Kuranui Hat. ~- Williams, tributer, crushed a parcel of general dirt for 27ozs 17dwts. Conference on Drainage Questions. Tho mombors of tho local bodies met yesterday evening in conference with Mr Saundors, representative of the Deep Level Cross Company, to frame regulations for tho proclamation of drainage area, eloction of Drainage Board, etc., for submission to the Governor. Objections were, howover, raised by some of the Councillors that any action at tho present stage would commit the bodies to expenditure, and it was eventually resolved that a meeting- of the interested companies bo convened, which should be attended by dologatos of the Council. The County Chairman has takon independent action,and convened a special meeting of the Couticil for Saturday next, to frame regulations.
