The Evening Star: WITH WHICH ARE INCORPORATED The Evening News, Morning News, and Echo.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 22, 1885.
For tho cauao that lacks assistance, For the wrong that needs resistance, For tlin future in the distance, And the good that we can do.
The mail budget via San Franciscj
to-day is more than ordinarily interesting. The sensation of the month has been the " Pall Mall Gazette" revelations of London immorality, which have stirred up the religious and social world. The references to the approaching election and other subjects are, however, also of very great interest, and the Royal marriage is a social event ot distinguished magnitude. The summaries of the news on our second and eighth pages give a full outline of these and other current topics. Local news has had to give way to make room for the publication of our extensive gleanings from English and American papers.
