ALLEGED ATTEMPTED WIFE MURDER.
Timaru, this day. • DURING tho trial of Lucas for wounding his wifo with intent to kill, an extraordinary scene occurred. Prisoner averred that his wife was perjuring herself because of a hatred she had taken to him, aud all for the sake of "that tall Chinaman." Ho declared that ho waa not (and could provo it) tho fnthor of his wife's child. Ho preß--od for an examination, nnd ho and tho Doctors, Mclntyro nnd Hogg, retired for tho purposo. Alter a quarter of an hour's absenco they returned into Court, and tho medical mon informed His Honour that prisoner was a cryptorchid. Tlio trial was then proceeded with.
