NEW FERRY COMPANY
A meetino of tho provisional directors of tho Auckland and North Shore Ferry Company (Limited) was hold at the Insurance Buildingß, Auckland, yesterday afternoon, at 3.30 o'clock. Captain Slattery was voted to tho chair, the other directors present boing Messrs Mitchelson, M.H.R., C. G. Quick, G. Scott, D. Ross, H. ABhton, andG. N. Brassey. Tho Chairman explained that it was proposed to form a limited liability company with a capital of ;C20,000, and to immediately build two new boats on the American principle, capablo of accommodating 1,500 each, with tho latest conveniences, and as soon as practicable, to extend the operations of tho Company to Northcote, Birkenhead, and Ponsonby. At present thero was room for a new company with good boats. The Company proposod to call up tho capital in calls of 2s lid each, and scvoral resolutions wero put to the meeting and carriod, vi_., (1) "That the qualification for a director be 100 shares upwards" (2) ''That no shareholder bo permitted to hold more than 1,000 shares in tho Compuny." (3) "That the operations of tlio Company bo e.x'euded to Norlheoto as soon us practicable." (1) "That Messrs Brassey and Dufaur be the solicitors to tho Company, and that thoy proceed at onco to draw up the rules of the Company." (5) "That tho Brokors' Association bo the brokers to tho Company." (0) "That tho Bank of Now South Wales be bankers to the Company." Plans were submitted to the meeting, and tho gentlemen present were unammnunly of opinion that the style of boat proposed by tho now Company would be largely patronised, nnd that the Company would be profitable. Tho mooting stood adjournod for a week, and a voto of thanks loi niinatcd tho mooting.
