SHOCKING ACCIDENT.
Ax accident of a most painful naturo happened on Saturday afternoon to n boy named William Martin, whoso parents reside in Ponsonby. Ho was in tlie Domain during tha progress of the football matches, and had a bottle of nitric acid in his pocket. Uy somo moans tho bottle was broken, and the acid distributed itsolf over tho poor lad's groin and thigh. Placing his hand in his pocket to ascertain what was tho matter, it was also covered with the corrosive liquid. As may ho imagined, Martin's groin, thigh, and hand were all badly burnt boforo he obtained medical assistance. He is now in tho Hospital, under Dr Bond's care. Very recently, a boy in Auckland met with a similar mishap, and amputation of his hand becamo noccs.'■ary. ____^____
