PARNELL RAILWAY STATION.

Deputation to the Hon. Mr Tole.

Captain McKknzie (Mayor of Parnell), and Mr Winks, Mr F. Ireland, and Mr Kidd (members of the Borough Council) waited upon the Hon. Mr Tole to-day respecting the re-establishment of the Domain railwaystation. Thejdeputation was introduced by Mr Moss, M.H.R., and Captain McKenzio stated the object they had in view. Mr Tole informed the deputation that he fully agreed with them, and would take care that the question was brought under the consideration of the Minister for Public Works, in whose Department it rested. He had sent for I.Mr Coomb to be present, so that any difficulties that mignt bo in the way could be considered, but Mr Coomb was absent from town. Mr Moss suggested that it would be bettor to meet Mr Tole again, when Mr Coomb could be present, which was agreed to. The difficulty, it was stated, is caused by the steep grament which it is alleged prevents the train being easily stopped or started in any convenient place; but against this it was urged that Mr Brogden found no difficulty, and kept the station open for a long time, while the population of Parnell and Grafton Road had so much increased since that the necessity of the station was now very much greater. Mr Moss pointed out the necessity also of a double line of rails from Newmarket to Penrose as a cheap and easy means of remedying the great inconvenience caused by the crush and delays of crowded and frequent trains through the tunnel. He stated that he had brought this before the successive Ministers ond hoped Mr Tole would make strong representations to the present Minister on the subject.. Mr Tole promised to have it looked into, and suggested that the new lino projected round the beach might answer the purpose. In any cose, the deputation had his support, as he knew the circumstances, and they might depend on it that anything he could do should not be neglected. The deputation thanked Mr Tole, who promised to let them know when Mr Coomb could attend, so that they might meet him again.
