ELECTION NOTES.
Tnfi Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joinors are Booking to make their influence folt in tho local elections. By announcement clsewhoro a meeting is called for Tuesday ovoning next, in St. James's Hall, when addresses are oxpected from Sir Georgo Groy, Messrs De Loutour, Dargaville, Tole, and Goorgo. This list would seem to indicate that tho Executive of tho Society have already takon up a partizan attitude towards tho candidates in tho field.
Parnell. —Mr Moss is to address tho electors to-night in Newmarket Hall, when thero will doubtloss bo a large attendance, as it is understood ho will touch on fresh topics. Mr S. T. George's first meeting with the electors is announced for Monday evening next, in Parnell Hall. Waitemata. —An Opposition candidate has at last appeared for this district in the person of Mr H. W. Fninall. It cannot be said that Mr Hurst has got "a foeuiau worthy of his steel," and the contest wil' probably be a tamo affair. Franklin North.—Mr W. F. Buckland and Major Harris continuo to address tho electors in different parts of this district, each receiving' hearty votes of thanks and confidence. Tho contest thus promises to bo a close mid keen ..no, tho general opinion being that Mr Buckland'. chances aro better than on former occasion*. A symptom of this is to be found in tho fact that Sir (leorge Grey is going out to assist Major Harris by giving an address at Otahuhu on Monday next, on "Tho Present Political Crisis."
Edks.—Mr O'Neill addresses the electors in St. Sepulchre's School-room on Monday evening next, and Mr Tole follows on Tuesday in the Athenieum.
Bay of- Islands.—Mr Mackenzie, after his wolcomo and lf>o votes of confidence at Kawakawa, addressed his constituents at Russell last night, and dwelling forcibly ns he did upon the points of local industry, and being a local man, received a unanimous vote of thanks and confidence.
Tapranoa.—Mr William Kelly addressed tho electors last night in the Waterford Hall, John Killon, Esq., J.P., being Chairman. M sat of the settlers of tho district wore present. Mr Kelly denounced tlie conduct of the late member as most inconsistent, and against the true interests of the district. He also condemned him for voting L2lO of public money to himself. He appealed to the electors to resent this conduct by voting against him at the coming contest. A unanimous vote of confidence was accorded to Mr Kelly. He will get almost a block vote here.
Bouncy.—Mr N. Wilson addressed the electors yesterday at Tauhoa, Mr Burdett being Chairman. The .candidate said he would support no party and condemned the Opposition for their action towards the present Government. He had no faith in Sir Julius Yogpl, but every confidence in Mr Mitchelson, He would allow gumdiggors to dig gum without any restrictions on Crown lands, and he strongly favoured tho present oducation system. Coromandel.—Our Thames correspondent wires: —" Mr Brodie announces today that ho is a candidate for tho Coromandel Beat."
