S. P. Andi-ewshas retired from Stanmoro contest.
Mr Anson, of Wainui, has definitely decided to oppose Mr Montgomery for Akaroa. Mr P. Duncan will oppose Mr Pearson for Ashloy. Mr J. L. Scott addressed the electors of Sydenham last night, when a vote of confidence was carried.
A cable me__age received today from J. L. Coster endorses the action of his friends in proposing him as a candidate for Heathcote, and says ho oxpeots to arrive in Christehureh on Tuesday next. MrS. R. VVebb addressed theeleetors of Lyttelton last night, and declared himself a strong opponent of the Government, and ready to follow any leader who would turn them out. A vote of cdnfjdence was carried. Mr W. Gibson addressed the electors of Cheviot at Amberley on Wednesday, and said he would support Sir Julius yogel if ho pould get a good Government together, A vote of confidence waß carried,
