MUNICIPAL ELECTION
The polling for the election of n City Councillor for the I'onsonby Ward, in the placo of Mr James Dacro, resigned, closed at 6 o'clock yosterday ovoning, and shortly beforo 7 tho result was announced to be :—
J. H.Upton 335 E. Cooper ISO W. J. Dalton 125 Mr Upton's victory was anticipated, and thoroforo created no surprise Ho has been elected by the large majority of 149, thus indicating the large amount of confidence reposed in him. Thero are 824 voters registered on tho roll, and of these nearly GSO polled yesterday.
