Disastrous Floods on the Mississippi.
New York, March 25.—News has been received here that the Mississippi has overflowed its banks, and that an immense tract of country near New Orleans has been submerged. It is feared that many persons have been drowned.

London, March 2C. —It is reported that Sir Wm. George Eden, Baron, Auckland, is an applicant for the Governorship of Victoria. Tho Exploration of Now Guinea. Mr Powell's hew Guinea expedition has been postponed until next year. London, March 26.—1t is reported that Russia intends to abrogato the remainder or tho Treaty of Paris. It is feared that the Sultan of Turkey is going mad. Mr Gladstone has so far recovered that it is expected he will resume his seat in the Ho'jse of Commons on Monday next.
