The following matches were proceeding on" the Domain Crickot Ground on Saturday last:-
United v. Excelsiok. — Unfortunately for Excelsior.this was a one-day's match,and they had to be content with indulgence in leather-hunting exploits. United went in jj first, and when the stumps were drawn tor the day, had 219 to their credit for the loss of four wickets. Yates and Percy Dufaur (not out) both made splendid stands. The scores wore: 3. Testro, lbw, b Waddingham, 23; R. J. Yates, b Perkins, 78; W. Lankham, c Pooley, b "Waddinghom, 4; C. MacCormack, c King, b Perkins, 23; P. Dnfaur, not out, 59; C. McKinney, not out, 26 ; extras, 7 : total for four wickets, 219. ::■„:
Auckland v. Our Boys. — The first innings on either side in this match was completed on the previous Saturday, Auckland being 72 to the good. Our Boys now commenced thoir second innings, which amounted to 105, W. George getting 37; Mills, 12; Arneil, 21; and White, 10. Auckland lost two wickets for 29, the highest. scorers being O'Brien (not out) 16, and Mathieson (not out) 8. Gordon r. A vondale.—Gordon won' easily, getting 79 for the loss of throe wickete, while their opponents only mnde 33. MeCausland, 34, and Ansenne, not out, 26, were top scorers. , United v. Auckland Second.—Auckland put together 70 in the first innings, D Aroy,, not out, getting 24 of thoso. United lost two wickets for 47, of which W. Harvie made 30. . , Other Matciiks.—Grammar School de- . fcatcd West End 2nd by 24 runs, while Gordon 2nd won their match against National by 6 wickets and 22 runs.—The Alpha and West End 3rd match was drawn, West End making 46 for the loss of six wickets, while Alpha put together 87. —Holland's team won thoir match against Surrey Hills by 111 runs.—The match Eton v. St. Mary's resulted in a victory for the Eton by 45 runs on the Ist innings, the scorus being—Eton (64),5t. Mary's{l9). Wj« Uowo made lop score for Eton (22), and Gicdhill (0) foi St. Mary's. The bowling of . Mills and Taylor was good for the Eton, while Darby and tlodhill did bestforßt. MftrvV.
