Preparations for tho competitions of the New Zealand Riilo Association, which commence at Ellerslie on Thursday next, continue to bo pushed forward, nnd with favourable weather the meeting should prove a great success. It will be seen by announcement olsewhei'o that tho local Secretary, Mr W. E. Bennett, will bo in attendance at the shop of Mr 11. G. Payne, jeweller, Queen-street, from 2 to 0 p. in. on Saturday lirst, to give any information that may bo desired regarding tho meeting. Entries will also be received up till that date, after which the list of competitors will bo closed. In all probability the Wairoa Rifles will be represented by 10 marksmen nt tho approaching colonial prize-firing.
