FIRE IN WILLIAM-STREET.
Fires continue to be of daily occurrence. Another occurred at an early hour this morning, and resulted in the tota! destruction of a two-story house in Williamstreet owned and occupied by Mr Thomas Kelly, ironmoulder. Mrs Kelly was the first to discover the outbreak. She was awakened by a sense of oppression, and found the room full of smoke, while the apartiaont was lighted by tlaraes in the other part of the building. Mr and Mrs Kelly and eight children made their escape with some difficulty, and not a moment too soon. Practically, nothing of any value was saved, the house and its contents being in ashes within a very short time of the discovery. An adjoining house owned by Mr P. Ferguson and occupied by Mr Alfred Ellis, was also on tire, bat the flames were extinguished by the Fire Brigade. Kelly's house was insured for £275, and the furniture for £75, in the Imperial, while Ferguson's was insured in the New Zealand for £150. It is believed that the outbreak originated in the kitchen, Mrs Kelly having left a kettle of water on the fire when she went to bed, in order that it might warm and be available if required.
