BOWLING AND TENNIS CLUB.
The annual meeting of tho members of tho Auckland Bowling and Lawn Tennis Club was hold on Saturday at tho Bowling Green, Grafton Road, Mr Thomas Maoffarlane (President) in tho chair. Mr William Tait (Secretary) presented the report, which was of a very satisfactory character. Tho scvoral matches—viz., tho Club Cup, President's Bowls, Secretary's Bowls, and Subscription Cups—had boon keenly contested. Tho Subscription Cups were won by Messrs Pago, George, McKenzio, and Mackochnie (skip). Owing, however, to tho difficulty experienced in getting competitors to fix their engagements, it was found impossible to play off tho other three matches before tho close of tho season. The Treasurer's report showed a balance in hand of £3 8s Sd. The receipts for the year, including a balance of £2 7s 3d from the previous yenr, were £90 tis 3d ; disbursements, £ 86 17s 7d. On the motion of Mr Mackechnie, seconded by Mr A. Bell, tho reports wore adopted.
Officers.—Tho following members were olected to office for the coming year: President, Mr Thomas Macffarlane; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr W. Tait; Committee, Messrs A. E. Mackechnie, J. Winks, J. Kirkwood, A. 8011, C. Pollen, S. Jackson, jun.; auditor, /Mr D. S. Cattanaoh.
Prize Cups. — Tho Chairman, Mr Macffarlane, in a characteristic speech, presented the subscription cups to the successful competitors. The cups were chastely designed, gilt inside, with ong raved inscription as follows: —"Auckland owling Club, 1882-3; won by H. R. George, E. W. Pago, Captain J, MeKonzie, E. A. Mackochnio (skip)."—The sovoral prize-winners roturncd thanks. It was decided that tho unfinished matches should be resumed at an early date. Presentation Cur—Mr Tnit, secretary, informed tho members that Mr F. H. Lowisson had promised to give a handsome cup for competition in a handicap match during the season.
New Mumueus.—Several new mombors wore eloetod, and others nominated for election. Tho terms of membership wero £1 Is gjr annum, and 10s Gd entrance foo. Tho owling Green was then declared Open for play on Wednesdays and Saturdays, during the season, members to use tennis shoes at play, to prevent the lawn from being injured.
