VOLUNTEER NEWS.
City Guards Rifle Competition.
The competition for tho medals presented to the City Guards Rifle Volunteers by Captain Isaacs took place on Saturday afternoon. A strong south-westerly wind greatly interferred with tho shooting. The ranges were, for tho first-class (gold medal), 200, 400, 500, and COO yards ; five shots at each range. Second-class (silver medal), 200, 400, and 500 yards; fivo shots at each range. The first-class was won by Vol. J. W, Leigh, the second by Vol. F. Bacon. The principal scores were as follows :—
