Thames, this day. Kubanui Hill.—The Company's retorting took place yesterday, eventuating in a return of 64ozs. lOdwts. retorted gold. The tonnage of quartz crushed has not been computed, but that obtained from No 9 lode averaged lOdwte per ton, the best portions being comprised within the last 80 feet driven. Tributers: Gordon crushed 4 tons for a yield of 7ozs. Bdwts. The banked another 17dwts. of gold Moanataiari. — Cameron (tributer leader in the Morning Star section) ob tamed 27ozs. sdwts. from 4 tons quartz Alp.urnia.—McDonald, tributer, crushed 19 loads for 29ozs. lSdwts. gold. Deep Level Cross.—About 501bs picked stone and specimens were secured during the past week, chiefly at the junctions of No. 2 reef with the footwall leader of the cross lode. Nearly 2001bs are on hand Nkw Prince Imperial.—Gold was seen pretty freely this afternoon in the Mariner's reef at No. 3 level about 30 feet wertwarf of the cross-cut. Tenders were opened to day for sinking a winze on this lode for tha purpose of connecting Nos. 2 and 3 leveb. and one at 22s per foot accepted. Work will be commenced on Monday moniine The total quantity of specimens on hand is 'Cambria Licensed Holdinus, adjobin? Dtirwin mine, will be sold by the Warden today at auction Eight persons have applied for the right of possession of the ground, and a large figure is expected to be realised.
Cambria.—A licensed liolding of 10 men's ground, situated contiguous to the present Darwin mine, Has sold at public auction by the Warden at noon to-day. The claim was formerly held by Fraser and Edwards who, however, neglected to work it, and it was in duo course declared forfeited by the Warden, and applications invited for possession. The sale was originally fixed for a month ago and postponed till Saturday in consequence of an informality Nine persons applied for tho property namely, Messrs Dryden, Fraser, Kowe" Hennelly, Greenville, Brodie, McGregor' Turtle and Stodart. Bidding commenced at the upstart price of £5, then jumped to £300, and advanced by small stages to £360 at which sum J. M, Lennox became the purchaser. Mr Lennox was acting in the interest of the Moanatairi Extended Company and others.
