An acquaintance from the country having visited some friends, and being about to depart, presented a little boy, one of the family, with half-a-dollar in the presence ol his mother. 'Please, is it a good one? > asked the ilttle fellow. 'Of course it is, replied the gentleman, surprised, • Why do you aak ?' Because I'd rather have a bad one, and then they'd let me keep it. It 1 get any good money it g^es into the banK, and I never get it again.
