Oraki, this day. The Geraldine meeting to-day was well attended, and was favoured by fine weather. Handicap Hurdle Hack of 'Orsovs; about two miles. Over 8 flights of hurdles. Mr Dillon's Hercules, Gyrs, lOst 71b (Thompson) 1 Mr Cotton's Wild Boy, lOst 81b (owner) 2 D. O'Brien's Melbourne, aged, lOst 91b (owner) 3 Schmoozcr and Lady I'crdita also ran. Clarence was scratched. Hercules and Wild Boy made all tho running, and a close finish; Melbourne a bad third. At the sixth hurdle Lady Perdita fell, and broke her back. C. Joyce, her rider, got a severo shaking, but no bones were broken. Betting : G to 4 on Hercules, 2 to 1 on Wild Boy. The Hack Hurdle Race, for which five started, was won by Mr Moore's Little Jack, Gbbaldine Cup of 150sovs. Two' miles. Win nor of G.R.C. Handicap to carry 71b extra. O'Brien's Tasman, syrs, 9st 21b (Dcrritt) 1 Stephenson's Taiaroa, 4yrs, 7s 51b (J. O'Connor) 2 Bate's Tho Poet, Gyre, 7st 31b (MeCluskey) 3 : Trickster, Emir Boy, and Hazard also ran. Hyacinth and Sou'wester were scratched. The horses went well together till near the finish, when The Poet went up, but was collared near the post by Tasman and Taiaroa. Tasman won by three quarters of a length, separating Taiaroa from Tho Poet. Time, 3mins. 59secs. Betting : 6 to 4 agst Tasman, 3 to 1 Emir Bey, i to 1 Poet and Trickster.
