SALE OF RAWLINGSTON.
The property at Mount Eden bequeathed by the late Mr Rawlings to two trustees, Messrs Josoph Newman and James Buttle, for the purposo of providing scholarships in the public schools of Auckland, was sold by auction to-day at Mr Arthur's mart. Thero was a large attendance of possible buyers, and competition was keon. The land, comprising nearly five acres, is well situated, just off the main road, and commands extensive views. These facts, together with easy conditions of sale, brought large prices. The total sum realised is about £2,800, which is considerably in excess of expectations formad a few weeks ago. Tho prices for the lotsnine in all—are as under:—No. 1, 84 feet, £3 per foot; No. 2, 94ft. Gin., £4 os; No. 3, 94ft. 6in., £3 12s Gd ; No. 1, 94ft. Gin., £3 7s 6d; No. 5, 150 ft,, £2 17s 6d ; No. 6, lOSft. 6in., £1 16s; No. 7, 108 ft. Gin., £3 15s i No. 8, £250 ; and No. 9, *210. The result must be considered by the trustees as eminently satisfactory, The remainder of the late Mr Rawlings's estate consists in a farm of 600 acres in the Kaipara district, which is at present unsaleable.
