THE DIAMOND CRAZE IN CANTERBURY.

CiIKISTCHURCH, yesterday. There are about 190 applications for prospecting licenses in Alford Forest District. At the Land Board meeting today, tho Commissioners announced that, as those already granted had been found on survey to conflict with others applied for, applications would be adjourned to Monday. They a'ao stated that, in future no licenses would be granted for a larger area than 100 acres, nor a mineral lease for more ihtn 60 foot by 130 feet, ihoChict' ommissionercautioned licensors against Belling or letting any part of claim, forming companies thereon, or tralficing in shares of such companies. An official cablegram as to the value of the diamonds was received fr.'iu Hoaie by the directors of the Pioneer Company to-day, but is not yet published. A meeting of shareholders is to be held to consider it to-night.
