A SOUTHERN DIVORCE CASE.
£1,000 Damages Claimed,

WELLINGTON, Saturday. AT the next sitting of the Supreme Conit in divorce and matrimonial causes jurisdiction, the suit of Maidment v. Maidment and another, is appointed for hearing. The petitioner, Charles Maidment, of Wellington, contractor, sues for dissolution of marriage on the ground of respondent's alleged adultery with co-respondent, Samuel Rowe, of the Hutt, settler. The parties were married at Wairau, in tbe Marlborough district, on the 16th of July, 1859, the'wife's name being Hannah Pickering, t-ince the marriage petitioner and his wife lived together at Wairau, and subsequently at the Hutt, and there have been issue of the ujiion ten children, the eldest of whom is married at Palmerston North. The petitioner alleges that on or about the 13th June, 1881, and on other occasions since that date and 2Sth of March last, respondent committed adultery with co-respondent at the Hutt; wherefore petitioner prays lor a decree granting annulment of marriage, and further seeks tbat co-respondent may be ordered to pay the sum of £1000 by way of damages, together with tho whole of the costs incidental to the proceedings.
