CITY SCHOOLS COMMITTEE.

The Committee met at 7.30 last evening. Present: Messis rfchmidt (chuirmau) Campboll, Thwaitex, and Carr.

Tub Training College.—The secretary to the Board of Education wrote to tiie effect that tho library and ante-room wire unsu table for the additional accommodation required by the training College. If it ■vould inset the wishes of the Cummiitee, the Board would take for the use of the College the claBS-ioom at the buck «f ihe eastern win.', After some discutfion, it was resolve.! tbat the Committee should visit the buil'iing and ascertain what airangeruents were possible till Tuesday ensuing next, and hold a special meeting for the purpose of considering tho letter.— The Board having requested a copy of Mr Worthington's letter on this subject, it was decided to torward a copy.

COMMIITEK'S HXPENDITUBE. — The Secretary to the' Board of Education wrote to the effect that the Board was willing to niakc a grant to reimburse the committee for their actual outlay on repairg and improvements to the uchool buildings. In regaW 10 the statement *f accounts, that outlay »■;« stated to bo £67 19s. A special grant of £13 17s over and above th« ordinary allowance has already been paid to the committee, and tha balance, £54 2s, will he made payable immediately.—The chairman remarked that the grant would not cover the Committee's liabilities, and he regarded the Board's action as a breach of fait b.—lt was decided to write to the Beard expressing reziet that the Beard did not carry out the custom of previous years, and ny an additional grant supply the den'ciency.

Board Election.—Messrs D. Goldie, V. .Luwry, and D. H. McKeozie sent circulars, accompaniad by their written consent to be noiniiated by the cemmittee as members of the Board of Edncatioa, and intimating that nominations should be lodged bafore the 31st in»t.
