The Wellington-ManawatuKailway Company have concluded arrangements with the Government, and will commence tho line at once.
Tho telopbone has been successfully worked over a distance of 360 miles between Buffalo and Patterson in Now York and New Jersey States.
The Christchurch Tramway Company are not in a position to declare a dividend this year. The receipts were £6,647, while the expenses amounted to £5,855, leaving a balance of £888. It is hoped that recent extensions will swell the revenue.
