Joe Gallagher took a level £50 .'from Billy Western last night that lie named the winner 5n live horses out of the Cup complement. Nevnral f 25's were also laid in tho name way during the day. , Mr Bobbett's 2-year-old colt Maonland, by Goldsborough, got cast in his box at Thorpe's stables on Friday night last, and lot his hip down, rendering him useless, so far as racing is concerned. Jimmey Poole went a trip to the Thames this week and " camo up smiling " on Tuesday evening. Keport says he did a big business, both on his Thames and Auckland books. Clever little chap i;i Jimmey. Mr|GeorgolEllia's filly Florin has been out. on the course two or three mornings this week, She appears to take very kindly to her company, and exhibits an excellent temper. Libeller will not come up to Auckland this journey. He is meant for some of the Southern events, and Peeress colt will represent the stable in the Cup. Another streak of luck for the metallicians.
In the " Observer " this morning appears a statement under the norn de plume of " Saul," that Ed. Day intends removing his horses from Mr Ellis's stables. This statement is entirely without foundation, and I have Day's authority to contradict it.
