this offence. SuMMOKiD to Support.—Sarah Jano White, of tne City Club Hotel, -was summoned to show cause why >be should not support two ot her grandchildren, Philip and David White, boos of the late Win. White.—Mr George appeared for oomplalnant and Mr Browning for defendant.— Thelnformatlon was laid by Mr Wm. Laird, a relative of the mother of the ohild.—Mr Laird explained the oiroamßtancea. 'lhe late We White formerly kept the Shamrock Hotel, but failed, and from that time to the day of his death, ho was unemployed. His widow waa lefc with ilr yoong children, and had only mMived assistance from Mrs Urowe.iier mother, and witness. The widow had now a Bituation at Russell, at 20s per week, 10b of which the contributed towards the snpport of her children. — Mr Browning suggested that the widow should bo examined.—Sarah Jane White, the grandmother, was about to ffive evidence. She waa willing to take one of the boya.—Hia Worship said, taking Mr Laird's evidence, it waa clear that the widow was in a position to support herself. She was earning 20s per week ai a barmaid. She could not be a destitute person. Many men in Kngland had not only themselves, but large families, to keep upon 20s a-week. His Worship thought it might endanger Mrs White's situation to bring her from Kusaell. The f aota were before the Court.—Mr Browning said ho understood that Mrs White had other means besides her weekly wages; he should like to examine her on that subject.-Mra White, the elder, said that her daughter-in-law had pronerty. and reflected upon her moral oharacter — Bis Worship said, judging from the evedence as It stands, ho thought hn could not make an order. He wonld.however, look Into tho case, and sea what the practice has been, and let Mr Browning know the result of his researches.— The case waa finally remanded nntil Friday.
