.COL. 1 eimble aodressed the elector* in town last evening, when he reviewed the events of last session. He commented at great length on the conduct of members engaged in "stonewalling," and declared himself a strong supporter of the weeent Goi vernment. A vote ot thanks and confidence was carried.

CAMBRIDGE, this day. Four candidates were nominated, viz. • Major Te Wheoro, Hamiore Mangakabiu' Wm. Hughes (half-caste), and Mita Karaka

Mr William Kelly has passed through here after prosecuting his canvass through the Thames portion of the electorate. He received a vote of confidence at Paeroa, Awahoa, Waitekauri, and Waihi, and seems to be a favourite candidate amongst the mining population.

PORT ALBERT, this day. At Wharehine, on, Tuesday, a vote of confidence in Mr Seymour George' was moved by Rev. K. Brookes, seconded by Mr Stevenson, and carried unanimously. At Tauhoa, on Wednesday, the Rev, Mr Parker proposed, and Mr Green seconded, and it was carried unanimously, '«That Mr Seymour George having consistently and earnestly, represented this electorate in the past, we pledge him our hearty support in the future." '

RUSSELL; this day. . At the nomination to-day for Maori member, the following were nominated :— Honi Mohi, Tawhai, Harini, Taiwhangaand Hare Kewiti. The show of hands was in favour of Taiwhanga, but it is thought that Honi Mohi will go in, ihottgh Taiwhanga may press him close. . . .

Mr G. E. Alderton addressed a numer. onsly attended meeting of electors in tho central school-house last night. Consider* iug the threatening appearance of the evening—rain coming down in torrents by the appointed hour, 7 p.m.—the attendance was good, the room being fall. Mr H. Matthews was, voted to the chair. Mr Alderton, who appeared with his arm in a sling—the result of a fall from his horse on last Saturday while proceeding to the Wairoa to address tbe electors there—was received with applause. He spoke for an hour and a half, and was loudly applauded during his discourse. At the conclusion a number of questions were put by the electors. A vote of confidence was moved by Mr A. Fraser—" That thistneeting has full confidence In Mr Alderton "—and was seconded by Mr & McDonald. No amendment being put, the motion was carried nem. con.. ,
