EXHIBITION AWARDS,
MELBOURNE, Tuesday.
A committee on the awurcls of the International Exhibition has awarded the Emperor of Germany's special prizo to Messrs Decaatelda and Rowau, of Etliubert s vineyard, for Australian wines. Ihere were thirteen competitors for the prize. Tho Inter-Colouial Metcorlogical Conference continues its sittings. It has been decided to arrauge for the exchange of weather telegrams between New Zealand and Australia at Sydney. RAID ON A GAMBLING HOUSE. The police have made a successful raid last night upon a Chinese gambling house. Twenty-nino Chinamen, who were taking part in the game, were arrested. ANTI-CUINESB MOVEMENT. SYDNEY, April 25. The miners enployed in the Newcastle collieries have made arrangements for holding a mass meeting for tho purpose of considering the Chinese immigration, and the employment of Chinese as labourers in the coal mines.
